Sports Premium Statement

Vision for P.E. – Place Farm Primary Academy

Our vision at Place Farm Primary Academy is that all children enjoy and develop positive attitudes to Physical Education and Sport.

Through Physical Education and Sport we aim to:-

•          Improve fitness, health and well-being.

•          Promote active participation and lifelong learning.

•          Allow each child to fulfil their potential.

The school receives additional funds to support the development of Physical Education and Sport in school (Sport Premium). This money is in addition to the curriculum funding for P.E. and Sport from the main school budget.

Place Farm Primary Academy uses the Sports Premium to promote improvement against the following 5 key indicators:

1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles.

2. The profile of P.E. and Sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.

3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching P.E. and Sport.

4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.

5. Increased participation in competitive sport.

Sport Premium

Place Farm Primary Academy was allocated £9,770 Sport Premium funding in the 2016-2017 academic year. This is used to support improved engagement and quality of sport provision in the following ways.

Specialist Teaching - £ 9,770

Funding for specialist staff to deliver P.E. lessons across the Academy.  This has had the effect of:

-          Increasing the number of sports teams, due to increased enjoyment of P.E.

-          Increased attendance at competitions throughout the year, due to children wanting to attend regular Sports Clubs.

The impact of this funding has been to broaden the range of pupils participating in sport throughout the Academy.

Pupils participating in specialist P.E. lessons have shown more interest in competitive sport and the overall improvement in fitness has been noted throughout the Academy.

A better understanding of health and fitness has resulted in increased focus during lessons.
